Design Index is a news reader. You can read everything without an account. This page explains what we keep when you save stories or sign in.
Without signing in, your saved stories, folders, followed topics, theme and reading history are stored only in your browser’s local storage. They never reach our servers, and clearing your browser data removes them.
When you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, email address, profile photo and a stable account ID. We use them only to identify your account and show your profile. We do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google data.
For a signed-in account we store your profile details, the date you joined, the folders you create and the stories you save (headline, link, publisher, topic, image link and short excerpt). This data is kept in a database hosted by Upstash and served through Vercel. A signed, HttpOnly cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days.
For signed-in accounts we also record when you last signed in, how many times you have signed in and when you last opened the site, so we can see how many people use their accounts. Only the site owner can see this.
Visit counts. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, which pages are read, the referring site, country and device type. It sets no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across other sites.
We do not sell your data, show ads, use advertising trackers or share your library with anyone. Stories link out to their original publishers, whose own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
Your choices: sign out at any time from your profile. To delete your account data, remove your folders and saves, or email vhashwanth@gmail.com and we will erase your account record. You can also revoke Design Index’s access at myaccount.google.com/connections.
